Bio: (must be two-three paragraphs): Sam grew up in a small town in Australia, near the ocean. To the outside world, he appeared to have a decent home life with a great family. Inside, however, things weren't so great. Sam's father would often come home drunk and beat Sam and his younger sister while their mother watched and did nothing. The siblings were abused both physically and emotionally, and it wore them both down something awful. They went to school together, but never acknowledged each other in the halls or when they saw each other around the schoolyard, because it was easier to pretend everything was okay if they didn't have to see each other.
Over the years, both of the two siblings found their own separate ways to escape their father's brutal beatings and angry words. While Sam turned to habits such as lashing out to others and drinking, his sister turned to religion. Her hardcore Christian attitude disgusted Jayce, and he wondered how she could possibly believe in a kind, just God while the two of them were suffering like this. And just like that, any chance the two had at getting close was shattered, as Jayce clung to his badass attitude and his sister clung to her Bible.
As Jayce and his sister grew apart, the beatings they received from their father grew worse. The second he turned eighteen, Jayce left home, taking what few items he owned along with him and never once looking back. Eventually, he ended up in Japan with a scholarship to a good college. He graduated a few years later with a degree in Criminal Justice and was accepted into the SPK not long after. He only worked at the SPK for a matter of months before Kira showed up. After much begging, convincing, and maybe a few threats, Sam had himself put on the Kira case. He knows that if he fails this case, he'll either be demoted or killed by Kira, but decided in the beginning that it would be worth it.
